Police can monitorNo car zone at Merrylee PS – recent incident where child was injured from driver car door. Online Poll on potential CC name change – 190 responses with 85% in favour of name changing. Agreed to change to “Cathcart, Merrylee & Muirend Community Council” from 1 May 2025.

Questions / Discussion:Responses were generally digital with little uptake of paper forms following the in-person event at a CC meeting in winter 2024. People are raising wants to see more e.g. Planting and it would be good to get locals involved directly in thisComms on this work to expand our workforce and encourage activities. Pauline keen to focus on engagement/buy-in and e.g. our up-to-date minutes online and Facebook.

Housing Assistant on Weds morning doing a walkabout and noting any issues to be addressed. Planning a Fun Day and Fish Supper night – difficult to get bookings – any venue suggestions welcome

MhairiWorking on application to all three APs for events programme for this FridayNIF (Neighbourhood Infrastructure Fund) available from all 3 Aps. Langside AP awarded their funds already and did not include any allocation in our area – Mhairi has emailed them to query and will write to Cllrs and Meeting contact to confirm Should hear back from our previous proposals at the next meeting including costs to complete a feasibility for the space outside the Couper.
Cllr FergussonCosts back for Merrylee Pitch replacement at around £200k.ENV2 development contribution funding an option being investigatedDiscussions ongoing on funding and confirming details e.g. ongoing maintenance£100k allocated from NIF and can be re-allocated if higher balance of funds available from elsewhere. 
Cllr Docherty:submit any ideas for Holmlea Park to the AP and they will be considered
Baillie McCabe:Been discussions on NIF allocations from all APs as disparity across the city. Grants team proposing structure for allocations for April.NIF funding maintained at £1million.
 
Events Plan – Yla Barrie / Tommy Petillo / Pauline Kelly  Second Window Wanderland ran 7-9 March. HUGE thanks to all involved 😊 Fewer windows registered (70 compared to 100) which echoes other placesActivities included group walks & live jazz.Feedback survey to come

Summary of Councillors’ written updates:  Cllr Ferguson’s report. Discussion on proposal for one way system in Merrylee – would require evidence of community support. Traffic Regulations Order a long process.
Baillie McCabe:Southside cycleway up 46% in usage over last year. Public realm spaces improved alongside the cycle paths.

Cllr Carson & Vallis met with Glasgow Life staff to discuss the Couper Institute:Estimated £100,000 to make the kitchen functional, £6million to upgrade the hall completely & £3mill to maintain, along with £3mill on library maintenance.Before Covid the Institute had 50,000 visitors, this is now down to 11,000. Glasgow Life were very receptive to the idea of the community council working with them to increase footfall and also raise money to upgrade parts or all of the building. This may include securing tenants, key-holding locally & small maintenance jobs.
Gully Cleaning was not completed due to lack of funding – will be completed Spr – July 2025
Cllr CurranPavement parking in Merrylee – roads that have not been assessed for exemption will not be subject to enforcement until then.

AOCB   Feedback from library suggestion box – Kate LonerganQuery on lack of planning approval for garage business on Clarkston/Muirend Ave. Cllr Fergusson confirms that the most recent Planning application did not include all information and the applicant has been asked to review. No timescale for decision.
