Community Council Meeting 

  1. Welcome and apologies

Carolyn Lochhead (chair) welcomed everyone to the meeting and introductions and apologies were noted.

  1. Actions from last meeting and approval of minutes

Oct and AGM Minutes –  Approved Kim Van Deer, Seconded Irene McCann

Action carried forward for Cllr Vallis to investigate the process for getting community councillors PVG checked. 

  1. Approval of Sept minutes

September Minutes – Approved Yla Barrie, seconded Mhairi Taylor

  1. Chair’s Report 

Carolyn spoke through the previously circulated Chair’s Report. 

  1. Couper Library

Margaret O’Donnell, Community Services Officer, Glasgow Life attended to discuss the various activities and events held in the library and ongoing maintenance work, including  a new fire alarm system and improvements to lighting. Suggestions from the community for future use of the library space are welcome.

Action Yla to  email Margaret for help in promoting Micro Talks on GL socials 

  1. Setting our community’s priorities

Mhairi Taylor led a priority-gathering activity with those attending. 

ActionMhairi to analyse feedback and present at January meeting, prior to gathering views from the wider community.

  1. Events Plan

Yla and Tommy shared details of the proposed events programme over the next year. 

Action – Carolyn to follow up with Glasgow Life again to confirm size of screen for film events

  1. Police report

No police representatives attended. 

Action: Carolyn to follow up with  Police Scotland re CDCC meeting attendance 

  1. Area Planning Partnership report

Nothing to report. 

  1. Licensing Report 

Steven advised that there are no current licensing applications.

  1. Planning Report

Louisa Maddison gave details of three items:

Application for External alterations to building, installation of air conditioning units, new perimeter fence and associated works at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, 15 Old Castle Road.

Application for houses on Merrylee Road (rear of White Elephant block) still undecided. 

The community council were sent outline diagrams and information of a new proposal for a block of flats at old garages on Craig Road, from Cathcart Housing Association for social housing. Details will be shared when the planning application is live. 

  1. Treasurer’s Report

Current balance £1513.17. Lynn reported that Bank of Scotland plan to introduce annual charges of £51. It was agreed that the Co-Op Bank should be considered as an alternative.

  1. Action – Lynn to contact Co-Op Bank to begin application process for Community Directplus account 
  1. Summary of Councillors’ Updates

Councillors present gave a summary of current matters, including an update from Baillie McCabe on available funding and transference of responsibility for running the Linn Park Adventure Playground from Glasgow Life to the charity The Yard.

  1. AOCB

No feedback received through library suggestion box since last meeting. 

Noted our Christmas tree will shortly be placed outside the Couper.

Action – Lynn to ask Kenny Boyle if his tree fence is still available. 

Carolyn closed the meeting by again thanking everyone for their attendance and wishing all a merry Christmas.
