Cathcart and District Community Council are delighted to bring local people together in our library hub, to listen to speakers, whilst enjoying a hot drink in a warm and friendly environment.
Based on the hugely successful Micro Talks West Kilbride, we’re delighted to launch Micro Talks Cathcart!
MicroTalks involve a range of speakers presenting 20 slides for 20 seconds each (6min 40Seconds total). The result is an eclectic, fast moving, engaging, sometimes amusing, always thought-provoking event.
We’re really excited to announce the lineup of speakers for Saturday 27 January 2024:
- Mhairi Taylor – The power of quiet activism; how we saved the Couper Library
- Frances Robertson – Rustles in the dark: local biodiversity
- Tommy Petillo – Nightmare Italiano (Call the food Police!)
- Yvonne McFadden – Selling the Suburban Dream: advertising Glasgow’s inter-war suburbs
- Gary Birnie – Unlocking Motivation: The Driving Force Behind Physical Activity
- Jessica Kerr – Stories of People and Trees – how music grew from the roots of tree stories
The event is free and everyone is welcome!
